There are dozens of social and civic clubs, including Rotary, Lions, Elks, United Way and many veterans and social services organizations available for membership and volunteering. Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, YMCA and 4-H are among the most popular youth groups in Effingham.
The Helen Matthes Public Library offers access to thousands of books and periodicals. Services include computers with Internet access, books on tape and an assortment of local and regional newspapers, magazines and software. The library is linked to others as part of the Rolling Prairie Library System to offer an even greater selection.
